Mighty

I'm reading Psalms right now. At the beginning,I thought to myself that this was going to take all summer long for me to finish. I know I will have to go back,at some point,to re read some of these verses. I'm slowly chewing on Psalms 103. I think I actually stumbled upon that verse sometime when Dad was in the hospital. Verse 13-15 stuck with me.

Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame;
He is mindful that we are but dust

Psalms 104 and 105 also pretty much describes the AWE of God and everything He does for us. I'm taking my time with these Psalms for they are very mighty.

On the Road

I praise the Lord for my safe journey to Phoenix. I saw my Dad and helped him move into his new apartment. Boy, it sure was hot there in Phoenix. But we managed and got some groceries and other household supplies. My Dad got all the fixin's to make cornbread and we picked up a new Paula Deen frying pan. I've just been dreamin' of that good ol' food. Alas, there wasn't too much time to cook a big spread on this visit.

I told Dad I started reading the Bible and I'm now reading Psalms. He said he was on Psalms too with his Bible Reading. Here's a couple of verses that I thought were noteworthy:

Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplication.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.
The Lord is their strength, And He is a saving defense to His annointed.
Save Thy people, and bless Thine inheiritance; Be their shepherd also, and carry them foreever.
Psalms 28:6-9

How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble. The Lord will protect him, and keep him alive.
And he shall be called blessed upon earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies.
The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed;
In his illness Thou dost restore him to health. Psalms 40:1-3

the faith in us

I was searching for another verse today and I came across this verse from Proverbs:

Hear, my son, your father's instruction,
And do not forsake your mother's teaching;
Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head,
And ornaments about your neck. Proverbs 8-9

I've prayed and I've thanked the Lord above for putting me in this family of mine. I love them all. I wouldn't want to be in any other family except this one. Love trumps all. Love is aces! We are a strong circle that shall not be broken. We will continue to love, respect, listen, understand one another at all times. We will pray for one another in rough times. We will forgive one another if harshness gets the best of us.

Things in life are not to worry about. I used to,literally, live every moment with stressful thoughts. I mean so much that I didn't sleep peacefully for hours sometimes days. I didn't eat right, I pretty much refused vitamins. Everything that crossed my path was bothersome to me in some way. I mean everyday things, everyday life was a challenge. I would lay in bed all night grinding my teeth. I would wake up in the morning and my jaw would hurt so much. I would tell myself "hard" things about myself. It wasn't so nice, my life then.

Now I thank God for my faith, my obedience in following him, I thank him for sending his one and only Son to die on the cross for us, for the Holy Spirit-the comforter. Without them life would be dark. Jesus is the light, the truth, and the way.

I can without one tiny doubt,that by praying and having a relationship with God can change your life in ways you never thought were even possible, logical, reasonable, or realistic. Truly, you must activate your relationship with God yourself. Take that bold step towards him. In time you will see life in a whole new way. Have faith-believe it before you see it!

be strong

Psalm 40:1-5

I WAITED patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me, and heard
my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of
destruction, out of the miry clay;

And He set my feet upon a rock
making my footsteps firm.

And He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God;

Many will see and fear,
And will trust in the Lord.

How blessed is the man who
has made the Lord his trust,
And has not turned to the proud,
nor to those who lapse into falsehood.

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders
which Thou hast done,
And Thy thoughts towards us;
There is none to compare with Thee;
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.

Jesus has your back

Whenever you feel like the world is going to swallow you up read Ephesians. I believe that Ephesians is a very empowering and encouraging book and it's only 6 chapters. Go to Chapter 6 :10 and read on....

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.
Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand
firm against the schemes of the devil. (10)

in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be
able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. (16)

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit,
which is the word of God.(17)

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this
in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all saints. (18)

Take refuge in the Lord for he is mightier than all your problems. In the beginning,God separated light from the darkness so he's got some mighty power!

Tough Times

I was just thinking about things. Things that are going on in our family. All I can think of is don't under estimate the power of prayer. I really don't know where anybody is at...spiritually that is. I will share this though...the power of your prayers can transform your life. Literally change your life, heal you, fill your heart with love, and produce hope. I encourage you and those that may have a hurting heart to take a few moments with your family or by yourself(some of you may have to actually go lock yourself in a closet for this) and pray, let Jesus know what's going on with you. What's hurting you, what is causing your unhappiness, your anger, your heartache, your rage, your unfeeling, your confusion, your problems, your worries. Now take all that and give it over to Him. Isiah 9:6...His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace

There is much to be said about forgiveness too. Forgiveness may be hard as a tackle. It can be literally suffocating and a struggle. Time and Forgiveness can release an abundance of emotions as well as relief. One of the hardest things to do in this world is to forgive. It's doubly hard to forgive someone that has hurt you or someone you love. I remember Kathy telling me about this man from St. John's who gave his testimony. Part of his testimony was how he went to go see(in prison) the man that killed his daughter. He told of how he forgave that man for taking his daughter's life. Somewhere I heard it put this way-God forgives us for all our sins almost within a blink of an eye. If God is able to do that then we need to be able to forgive someone for sinning against us. You know in the "Our Father.."- ...'forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Tress passes/Sins cover a wide range of issues too-from violence, to mouthing off, to cheating, to lying, anger, hatred, etc...I hope this helps in some way to someone. Sometimes life can be a real PAIN but there is ALWAYS HOPE of a better tomorrow. I'm not sure if that's from the Bible or Gone with the Wind! Something like that...

God give us your mercy and grace

Moments with Issac

It's been a while since I last wrote an entry. Why is this so? Excuses-the holidays,busy at work,had other things on my mind, the Inauguration, and lack of motivation. During this time many things have happened. Occurrances that deserved to have something written about them. But I did not write. It was mostly because (unfocused)time was ruling the days. But I've got a cure for the lack of motivation and the blahs----I'm gonna write something!! Yeah!

First of all, I was just catching up on my Page-a-Day Bible verse calendar and I got to Friday's verse:

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds...
Teach them to your children...

Deuteronomy 11:18-19

On MLK day Kathy let me take Isaac and Ari out for a walk in the park since they were out of school. It was a very beautiful and warm day (80 degrees)so we were laying down in the grass looking up at the clouds. Isaac said that cloud looks like a race track and there's car next to it. Then he said one of the most profound things ever. I mean it struck me so hard and I almost cried. He looked up,at the clouds,said that's the key to open up God's House. What a glorious moment! Needless to say, it was one of the best days of 2009. Economic Schikonmics. If I have just one more day like that day for the rest of 2009 then it's going to be a year of greatness! I believe 2009 will have all sorts of treasures and gems when we're least expecting it!

Yesterday, Kathy,me, and the boys went to Michaels craft store. Issac and I were browsing along the aisle that have bins full of little pre made wooden objects that you paint yourself like a jewlry box or a birdhouse. Issac bent down and almost like he wasn't looking at what he was grabbing, stuck his hand in the bin, and said I want this. It was a cross. He was so delightful!
